The Doctors

Preference of practitioner
Patients are registered with the practice, not an individual GP. For administrative reasons your medical card will be issued in the name of one of the doctors; however, you can at any time express a preference for a particular doctor, for either all of your medical needs or on a case-by-case basis. This preference will be recorded in your medical notes and we will do our best to respect your choice. However, not all the doctors in the practice provide all services and specific doctors may not be immediately available.

NEW FY2

Dr Joanna NelsonDr Joanna Nelson is our new FY2 doctor who will be with us for four months. For those of you wondering what FY2 means: Fy2 stands for Foundation Year 2 i.e. a doctor who is qualified and has already done at least one year in various medical and surgical hospital jobs, and is in the second year of general medical training prior to choosing a subject in which to specialise. They may or may not choose to specialise in General Practice but their Foundation training is the same, whichever specialism they choose. So we teach them about communication, holistic care, care of people at home with several social and medical problems, team care models etc. At the end of FY2, they go through various selection procedures for whichever specialist training they want to do.
