Post Graduate Medical Teaching

After additional training and after regular rigorous assessment visits, the Practice continues to attain the high standard required of a “Training Practice”.  This means that we are asked to teach qualified doctors about medicine in general and General Practice in particular.  Within the practice we supervise FY2 and GPSt grade 1, 2 and 3 doctors.

FY2 (Foundation Year 2) Doctors are in the second year after graduation as a doctor and may not have chosen General Practice as their future specialty.

GPSt Doctors are in the various stages of specialist training to become General Practitioners.  They have been doctors for at least 2 years.  Once they have done specialist training for at least 3 years and have passed the specific modules and exams of the “MRCGP”, they receive certification to practice as a GP and can call themselves Members of the Royal College of General Practitioners.

Occasionally some video recordings of consultations will be made or a training doctor will sit in while the trainee consults.  This will only be done with a patient’s prior consent and we don’t mind at all if you decline.  Recordings are only used for teaching and training purposes and confidentiality will always be maintained.

Please help us to assess these doctors by telling us what you think about how well (or badly) you have been looked after by them.
